The person your parents call before they click.
Patient, unhurried technology help in your own home, across Toronto and the GTA. The same person every visit. No jargon, no rushing, and never a raised eyebrow at a question.
The first call is free and takes about twenty minutes. If I can't help, you don't pay — and I'll tell you honestly who can.
I will never phone you and ask to connect to your computer.
Not ever. Not for an emergency, not for an update, not because “your account has been compromised.” If someone calls claiming to be me and asks for access — it is not me. Hang up and call the number on my card.
That sentence is the whole promise. Everything else on this page follows from it. Here's why it matters →
If you're the one they call
You have become your parents' IT department. You did not apply for the job.
More than half of Canadian seniors turn to their children when technology goes wrong. So it's you on the phone on a Sunday afternoon, trying to explain a printer you can't see. It's you driving across the city because the email stopped working. And it's you lying awake wondering whether the person who called about the “refund” last week was real.
I do that job instead. In their home when it matters, on the phone within the day when it doesn't — and I send you a short note every month telling you what I did, what I checked, and that everything is fine. So you don't have to ask, and they don't have to feel like a burden for needing help.
What that note actually contains
- Every time I connected to the computer, and why
- Whether the updates and the backup are current
- Anything unusual — a new sign-in, a new administrator account, an expired subscription
- What we worked on together, in plain English
Your parent sees the same note. Nothing about this is behind their back — I'll tell them exactly what I'm sending you, and they decide who's on the list.
If it's your own technology
You are not bad at this. It was badly designed.
Nothing you ask me will be a silly question. I have never once thought someone was slow — I've thought a great many times that a company made something needlessly confusing and then blamed the person using it.
I'll sit down beside you, at your own table, and we'll go at whatever speed suits you. And if you'd rather I just fixed it and didn't explain a thing, that's fine too — it's your afternoon.
The things people usually call about
- A printer that has stopped speaking to the computer
- Email that won't open, or has filled up with rubbish
- Photos scattered across three devices, or stuck on an old camera
- Passwords written on a sheet nobody can find
- A worrying message on screen, or a phone call that felt wrong
- Online banking that changed and now looks different
- Video calls with grandchildren that keep failing
- An old program that still matters and nobody else will touch
How it works
- A free phone call, about twenty minutes. You tell me what's going on. I'll tell you honestly whether I can help, what it will take and what it will cost. Sometimes I solve it on that call and there's nothing to pay — more often than you'd think.
- The first visit, at your home. We fix what's broken first. Then I write down what you have and get the updates and the backup working properly. An hour is usually enough; if it needs longer I'll say so before we get there, not after.
- Then I'm simply your tech person. Phone me when something goes wrong. Once we've set up remote help — on a later visit, never the first — most things I sort out from my desk in a few minutes. When it needs hands on the machine, I come back. No hourly meter running while you find the right words.
Free, about twenty minutes, and nothing to sign at the end of it.
What it costs
Published, so nobody has to ask awkwardly. I am taking on 25 founding households and those twenty-five keep the founding rate permanently, even after the price goes up for everyone else.
In your home, by the hour
$79/hour
Founding rate — normally $110
One hour minimum, then by the half hour. I'll tell you the likely total before I start, and I'll stop and ask before it goes past that.
Family Plan — monthly
$39/month
Founding rate — normally $59
Unlimited phone and remote help, monitoring, and the monthly note to the family. Cancel any time, in writing or over the phone.
Two things I want to be plain about
I will never sign you up for the monthly plan on a first visit. If it makes sense, I'll leave the paperwork with you and you can talk to your family and phone me in a week. Anyone who wants a signature on a recurring payment while they're standing in your kitchen is telling you something about themselves.
You have ten days to change your mind. If you sign something with me at your home, you can cancel it within ten days of receiving your copy and get your money back. That's your right under Ontario law, not a favour from me — and it's written into what you'll sign. Read it here before you decide →
The founding rate holds for the first 25 households, permanently.
Who you'd be letting in
I'm Priyesh Mehta.
This started in my own building. A neighbour couldn't get her printer working, so I went up and sorted it out. Then someone else needed help with email. Then a gentleman down the hall asked whether I could look at a program he'd written himself, fifty years ago, that had finally stopped running — and I got it running again.
Word travelled, the way it does in a building. I was doing this most weekends for free, and enjoying it. What changed my mind about making it a proper business was watching how many people had no one to call at all — and how many of them had already been targeted by somebody who knew it.
So this is now a real service, built the way it has to be built — written paperwork, insurance, a police check — because those are what let a family trust a stranger in their mother's living room. Ask me where any one of those stands and I'll tell you straight. The neighbours who helped me figure this out keep the founding rate for good.
Things I will never do
- Phone you and ask to connect to your computer
- Log into your bank as you, or move money on your behalf — I'll sit with you while you do it
- Take a card number over the phone, or write your card details down — if you pay by card, you tap it yourself
- Connect to your machine silently — you'll always see it happening, and it's always in your monthly note
- Ask you to sign a monthly plan on a first visit
- Keep a copy of your passwords, files or photos after we're done
- Pretend I know something I don't. If it's beyond me, I'll say so and tell you who to call
I don't have reviews to show you yet.
This is a new service, and I would rather tell you that than fill this page with quotes you have no way of checking. What I can offer instead is better: the names and numbers of neighbours I've already helped, who have agreed to take your call.
Ask me for them. If someone in this line of work can't give you a real person to phone, that tells you something.
Ready when you are.
Call or text and tell me what's going on. If it isn't urgent, say so — I'd rather come when it suits you than rush.
Serving Toronto and the GTA. Somewhere further out? Ask — I'll tell you straight whether it's practical.
